to watch video |
Missionaries submit requests for assistance in projects involving construction work. Apart from the main project there are always other forms of assistance such as teaching, nursing, sewing etc. After the projects are evaluated, one of the requests is selected and preparatory work starts nearly one year before departure date. |
The group
This always includes a Spiritual Director and about 20 volunteers from all walks of life. The volunteers pay all their travel expenses.

Last year`s project - Tanzania 2009
The group of Mission Fund volunteers arrived back in Malta from Tanzania on 12 September 2009 after completing their project, which consisted of three phases:
(i) continuation in the construction of the primary school for children suffering from AIDS, which was started last year, and the construction of an adjoining multipurpose hall;
(ii) provision of help at the leper`s village; and
(iii) provision of help at a hospital which is run by Sr Mary Borda, who is also a doctor.
This year`s project - Tanzania 2010
This year`s project consists of the construction of an extension to a hospital in Singida, Tanzania. The hospital, which has 170 beds, is run by Sr Maria Borda, a Maltese missionary of the Medical Missionaries of Mary.
